Leon has reached the milestone of 50 locations with an opening at Paddington station in London. The site is a second opening in partnership with SSP. Co-founder John Vincent said: “We have always said we want to be there when people need us, and travelling makes you tired and hungry. Paddington travellers can now leave their marmalade sandwiches at home and fill up with tasty Leon food instead.” Also opening at Paddington station from SSP is bar concept Cabin.

Drake & Morgan says it will open its 22nd venue on 16 October—the Allegory on Principal Place in Bishopsgate. It will have a 6,300 square feet space on the ground floor of the 600,000 square feet development, housing 145 covers and 86 more on a terrace. Managing director Jillian MacLean said: The City of London is Drake & Morgan’s heartland and Principal Place, with its public piazza and buzzing location, is a landmark development. We are looking forward to The Allegory being a central part of it.” Drake & Morgan will open two more venues before the end of 2017, at Cannon Green in the City and on St Peter’s Square in Manchester.

Brasserie group Côte opens at the Trinity Leeds shopping centre a week on Monday (24 July). It will have 188 covers.

The New World Trading Company is to launch a new pub restaurant brand called The Canal House. It will make its debut at Brindley Place in Birmingham on 14 August, taking over a former pub unit. It will specialise in craft beer and cocktails.

Indian street food operator Mowgli is to open in the casual dining sector of the Grand Central development in Birmingham. Sarah Fox, head of restaurants and leisure at Hammerson, said: “Mowgli is a perfect addition to the line-up at Grand Central, significantly strengthening and diversifying the food and beverage offer at the centre. Mowgli is also seeking a second restaurant in Manchester, according to the Manchester Evening News. It currently has three sites—one in Manchester and two in Liverpool.

US-based chain PF Chang’s is to make a move into the UK with the launch of an ‘Asian Table’ restaurant on Great Newport Street in Covent Garden on 4 August. Its menu will include various Asian street food and classic dishes. The restaurant will have 138 covers and will be open for brunch as well as lunch and dinner.

Thai brand Giggling Squid has been granted permission to open on Eastgate Street in Chichester.

Vietnamese restaurant brand Pho says it will open at Highcross in Leicester in the autumn. It has taken on a 2,100 square feet unit previously run by Red Hot World Buffet.

Turtle Bay has signed for a 10,000 square feet site in Northampton. The venue was previously a nightclub.

Bill’s has signed up to the Rushden Lakes development in Northamptonshire.

JD Wetherspoon opens in Bexhill on the Sussex coast on Tuesday (18 July).

Healthy food and juice bar Crussh is to open in partnership with Debenhams at its flagship Oxford Street store. It will operate a 90-cover café on the second floor of the shop. It joins various other brands opening in partnership with Debenhams, including Costa, Franco Manca, the Real Greek and Patisserie Valerie.

All-day bar restaurant group Darwin & Wallace will open at Circus West Village next to the old Battersea Power Station on 28 July. It will be the group’s fifth venue, joining bars in Pimlico, Clapham, Richmond and Chiswick.

Soho Coffee Co has opened its fourth new London store in eight weeks—on the corner of Keeley Street in Kingsway. It is the brand’s sixth launch of the year in all.

Pret a Manger opens on Old Hall Street in Liverpool’s commercial district next Friday (21 July). It joins two other Prets in the city.

Marston’s will open its latest new-build pub in Skegness on 31 July. The Twelve Oars will have an open pizza kitchen. It has also set 23 October for the opening of its new-build in Southport, local media report.

Ed and Tom Martin of the ETM group have opened the Long Arm Pub & Brewery on Worship Street in east London. Beers brewed there are served direct from tanks.

Upmarket Thai brand Patara has opened on Wimbledon High Street—its seventh London restaurant. It is an 80-cover restaurant with a 50-cover terrace.

Hollywood Bowl has opened its 57th site—at the O2 centre in Greenwich. It includes a Hollywood Diner food offer.
